Where to Get Your License

Step 1: Fill Out the Online Application


You can complete the pre-application online up to 90 days before your wedding date. After submitting the form, you’ll receive a reference number – bring this with you to the Marriage License Bureau.

Step 2: Go to the Marriage License Bureau in Person


Both partners must appear together in person with valid photo identification. Acceptable forms of ID include:

Driver’s license

Passport

Military ID

Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

Government-issued ID with photo and date of birth (U.S. or foreign)

If you’re a U.S. citizen, you’ll need to provide your Social Security Number (you don’t need to show the card). Foreign citizens do not need to provide this.


Cost and Payment


The license fee is $102.


Payment methods: cash, credit/debit card, money order, cashier’s check, or traveler’s check.

Note: Using a card may include a small processing fee (around $3.29).


Validity and Requirements


Your license is valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

The ceremony must be performed in Nevada by a licensed officiant.

No blood test or waiting period is required.

Both parties must be at least 18 years old.

If one person is 17, they may be able to marry with a court order.


You cannot be more closely related than second cousins, and you must not currently be married to someone else.


After the Wedding: What Documents You’ll Need


After your ceremony, you may need the following:

1. Certified Marriage Certificate – Essential for name changes and for use at DMV, Social Security Office, Immigration, etc.

2. Apostille – For foreign citizens who need their marriage recognized in another country. This is issued along with a certified marriage certificate.
